Sculptra’s active ingredient is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a collagen stimulator. Sculptra’s PLLA ingredient is biocompatible and biodegradable, meaning it will be absorbed naturally in the body. As the body absorbs the PLLA microparticles, these particles stimulate our body’s natural collagen production, restoring the underlying structures and improving the skin’s appearance over time.

It is clinically proven to be effective, as Sculptra is injected into the deep dermis. Other topical collagen-stimulating treatments do not penetrate the dermis and only improve the skin’s appearance for a short time. Sculptra has been clinically studied to last up to 24 months.

Your Sculptra injections are performed in our office by our professionals. We will discuss the best treatment plan tailored to your individual needs. Typically, we recommend three treatment sessions over a three to four-month time frame to give you lasting results. We will go over all of your post-procedure care in the office, including information on your injection sites’ gentle massage. Gentle massage helps to maximize the absorption of the PLLA.

You may experience swelling, tenderness, redness, pain, bleeding, or bruising after your injections. Some patients may feel small lumps under the skin that will resolve. After initial swelling subsides, you may see some fine lines and wrinkles return temporarily as the body uses the PLLA to boost collagen production and restore your tissue structure.
